Selfish Breastfeeding - By Michelle

Skin to skin the perfect place for you to be,

Every golden drop as nutritious as the last,

Long nights, lonely nights just you and me,

Feeding on demand, everything dropped, this phase to will pass,

Inseparable, no interruptions how it should be,

Seeing you grow and thrive, it goes so fast,

How long will you feed? Along as WE want to.

Breast is best, is what we’re all told,

Reflecting back at me smiles of contentment,

Every feed a moment of calm and connection in my hold,

Acrobat feeds as you learn new tricks, much to your amusement,

Sleepy feeds where you know you’re safe, a love untold,

Temperature feeds to make you feel better, ease your disgruntlement,

Feeding you is such a privilege, this memory one I will hold,

Endless benefits to make us both stronger, natures best supplement,

Even on the hard days we make it work, navigate this tricky road,

Don’t let opinions of others make you feel ANY embarrassment,

I would say Selfish and Breastfeeding are juxtaposed,

Never underestimate your accomplishment,

Grateful to have our feeding journey, no matter what it looks like to others.
