Between Us
Portraits and Poetry on Breastfeeding, Bonding and Becoming a Mother
Between Us is a powerful exhibition of portraits and poetry exploring breastfeeding, bonding, and the journey into motherhood. It builds on the success of Holding Time, a long-running project by Lisa Creagh, that has travelled across the UK for over eight years and arrived in Halton in the summer of 2024.
In 2025, mums from across Halton attended creative writing workshops led by writer Rachel New. These sessions offered local women a space to reflect on and share their personal stories of breastfeeding and motherhood.
In the summer of 2025, their voices came together in Between Us — an exhibition featuring poetry from the workshops alongside striking portraits by local photographer Rebecca Smith of Little Wonderland Photography.
Between Us is a collaboration between the Halton Infant Feeding Team, Halton Borough Council, Bridgewater NHS Trust, and Halton Family Hubs and is funded by Halton Family Hubs.
