To My Children - by Quynh

To my beautiful children:
Sophie in my heart, Josephine and Benjamin in my arms.
One day I’ll be all grey
and my memory has faded away
I want you to remind me
the superheroes who saved my life were you three.
Sophie you made me a mummy
the first day you appeared in my tummy
Every day that followed was a heaven
I didn’t think I could be given.
After six years of magic and wonder
suddenly our world began to shatter
Sophie I couldn’t imagine our life
without seeing your angelic smile.
From the darkness, no words to say
The tunnel slowly opened up for a glimpse of sunray
It was you Josie baby
who brought back the love amongst the agony
You are full of bubbles
yet the thing you love the most is cuddles
My empty arms are now heavier
and my broken heart much fuller.
When we thought it was impossible
Benjamin you proved it was achievable
To have more sunshine
while still having thunderstorms intertwined
Benji our last rainbow you arrived in style
Bringing with you indefinite joy and smile.
How lucky am I to be your mother
living my life in its fullest of colours
Until the day I die
it is my life privilege to watch you thrive.
One day I’ll be all grey
and my memory has faded away
Promise you’ll tell me how you all three
have shaped the mummy that I could be.
