Mummy and Daddy - by Vicky

I wanted to write you a little letter just to tell you some of my thoughts on my life.

First, I look up to you and I am trying my best to make you proud. I hold my head up to get a better view of you both.

Next a little note, this thing you call “tummy time”. I will tolerate it, I guess. You did try to make it more fun by getting Lion for me to be on and a water mat, so I can see you are trying to make it more entertaining for me, but we will need to reassess soon.

Daddy you seem to really want me to roll at the moment. We will see how this goes but again, not a fan, I would much rather stand. I like to stand so I can be as tall as you, not long now, I think. I try to move my legs like you, you call it walking but I still need a helping hand. I might only be 3 months and you all say this is advanced, but I love standing.

When I cry, I know you try to make me better even though it’s hard to tell what I want. You feed me, I like this part, it’s yummy in my tummy. You change me, even though they are my “best” creations. I work really hard on them, just so you know, and you just throw them away! I make them smell especially for you, as you kept saying you like the smell of me, but you don’t seem to like these, and I’m not sure I understand this.

I give you my biggest smile but also my loudest cries because you say you like big smiles so big cries must be the best too.

Mummy, thanks for making “my” favourite cushion. The pig and shapes make me smile and now it is mine and will be forever. Even though you made it, I have claimed it.

Water is something that I am on the fence about at the moment, I love bath time, being able to splash and try and get both of you wet is a fun game that makes me smile. I like to see how big I can make them and how far the splish splash splosh will go. However, this thing you call swimming, I can’t seem to make my mind up on. But as it makes you smile, I will keep going for now. Maybe one day I will kick my legs in the pool like you keep asking me to, but not for now.

One thing I do love and would appreciated more of, is TREES! I just can’t get enough of these mysterious, tall, green objects. I would stare at them all day, but we are always on the move somewhere else more important than my trees.

You both look after me and keep me safe, but just so we all know, that basket you put me in to “sleep”, not a fan in any way. I would much rather be in your arms, and I will keep letting you know of this fact.

Our big cuddles in the morning are a daily high point! I love being able to spread out, but will you stop saying that I keep pushing you out, I’m only small, I can’t take up that much space. I really enjoy it now as Daddy watches the footy highlights, I love the colours on the screen, though can you cheer a little quieter please Daddy?

But most importantly and I think you know I LOVE YOU, my Mummy and Daddy.

Love Finley.
